Seems like Amsoil has finally intorduced an air filter that I am not disappointed with. Their partnership with Wix in producing these EaA filters for them has been a big part of that, I believe. Their previous attempts at making their own air filters showed a lot of room for improvement, based on my own experience with them.
These new filters are using a synthetic media that allows for better air flow over a longer period of time, while also providing higher efficiency (smaller particle removal) than most conventional and cotton-gauze medias. Cleaning the filter is quite easy and takes only a few minutes. There is no washing or oiling of the media like previous filters. The fit and durability has been very good so far on the one I'm using. I read that this type of synthetic media is used in some military applications like the M1 Abrams tank air filter due to its higher performance in dusty battlefield conditions.
Cost seems kinda high, but if you can effectively use it for 100k miles or more, then it's not so bad a deal. We'll see.
