Amsoil 75W-85 EP Gear Lube and ULV ATF

It’s getting popular. My Subaru has it too. Trying to squeeze out another .001 mpg!
i guess my point is, 75w90 and w85 are not that different,

amsoil spec 75w90 and 110 for my lx570, but the new toyota specs the w85

i suppose it is good for those who just want precisely that weight

i wonder if it is more shear stable than 90wt?

GM differentials are very picky. AC Delco has two different 75W85 fluids. My 2022 Sierra has the SU8 rear locking differential. I put Amsoil SS 75W90 in the rear differential and it was making noise. I drained it and put in the proper fluid bought at the dealer. The noise stopped.

There’s been a market since 2017-2018. That doesn’t really compute.
Engineers at Amsoil are probably smart enough to run their factory fill for a decent duration. Not everybody has a guinea pig to test on in 2017.

And one test is no test. It will take a while…

It computes perfectly. Amsoil isnt GM.

What is it, an LSD? Doesn’t make a lot of sense otherwise. Some fluids will quiet noisy diffs, but those aren’t ots fluids.

Just got my 12 pack of Amsoil 75W-85 Delivered!!!! Now to wait a year to actually install it! I thought I had better buy now in case prices move. Thanks Amsoil!!!
Congrats!!

Almost certainly was not the viscosity since it is temperature dependent, and that a 90 grade gear oil that’s possibly as little as 10* hotter will be the same viscosity as the 85 grade oil.

SVG is a top-5 offering for sure.

Can it be used as transfer fluid for Acura SH-AWD, the OEM specs Honda 75w-85 GL-5 hypoid oil

If that is specified yes.
This is what Honda has

Genuine Honda 08200-9014 Hypoid Gear Oil Hgo-1 Gl-5 75W-85

The amsoil website for some reason only shows me 75W-90 gear fluid for my car, and not the 75w-85, which seems like a closer match.

Got a case of the ULV and 75W-85 for my 2024 Sierra Denali CC 3.0L. Just waiting for warmer weather to have the dealer install it (<5,000 miles on truck). Going to change all the fluids over to AMSOIL. Engine, trans, transfer case and both axles. They GMC dealer will gladly do it for me. AMSOIL user since 1975!
Next oil change (75k miles) I’m doing the same on my ‘21 3.0. Just FYI, the transfer case calls for LV so you’d want to get the fuel efficient ATF fluid for that application.

My Subaru BRZ manual suggested using a 75w90 fluid was okay in place of 75w85, but noted that it might cause more noise. Do you know any way a 75w85 might be less noisy than 75w90 ? , what causes the noise ? I have 75w90 in my BRZ now and it is quiet so far.
