Here is the result of AMSOIL 20W50 in my semi race Vw Jetta. 2.0 8v engine.
Oil is over one year old (14 to 15 months old.) I put on 5800 miles on it plus 10 race events. 1 drag racing event even street mileage was high rpm driving. from Nov 2003 to April 2004 it was stored.

I am running higher than normal fuel pressure to run rich at high rpm.

here is the result.

All I can say is wow on the wear metals. Everything else that's out of spec looks like a direct relation to running rich and the fuel dilution.

This looks like the Amsoil high performance, 20w-50 oil. The product to run in this application is the Series 2000, 20w-50 racing oil. It will give you lower oil temps and more top end power. It will also hold up even better in this type of service.

Yeah, it's a lot more expensive, but you get what you pay for ....

tooslick, dont you think this oil has already provided great service? What more can I ask of it?

The viscosity decrease is due to addition of half a Liter of AMSOIL 10W40 to top it off after 6 months.

by the way the manganese is due to Canadian gas. USA gas dont have any manganese in their gas.

This is an excellent report. The only advantage I could see of going to S2k would be a tad bit more HP. S2k oils are heavily friction modified and superior to this oil, but you might not see any difference bc it won't need the better oil.

Well, that fuel dilution is not helping a whole lot. 2% is in the "Correction Zone"

And look at your flashpoint.

Seems counterproductive to use a heavier oil (seems like heavier than necessary anyway) and then leaving it in so long that the fuel thins it out to a 40 wt. I doubt if the addition of that 40 wt. oil had much of an effect.

I would consider the Schaeffer's blend (40 wt.) and change it more frequently.

I think those are excellent results. That oil is working great for such hard use. You should try running Sunoco gas, it uses ethanol as its octane boost additive instead of MMT (manganese source), I swear by their gas as MMT fouls things up in the long term - at least on a street car - from plug, O2 sensors, and cat. .

This amsoil is looking really well on this engine, the thicker viscosity is doing what you want by keeping parts from wearing into eachother. Good silicon numbers for a race setup, most guys sacrifice a bit of filtration for increased air in race setups, yours is filtering well.
