Oh and guys even a cheap Walmart Supertech/Tech2000 oil filter can go the distance with out failure in a moderately maintained vechile you do not need a $9-$16 oil filter that is just hype. Flow is so much more important then filtering in a full flow system. Now a larger filter can make a difference in insoluble levels though but you do not usualy need to spend a lot to get a larger filter. In fact Donaldson filters are some of the best filters out their and they are not that pricie either just hard to find. Baldwin and Hastings make a nice filter as well but I think Donaldson has a better media in their stratpore series then Baldwin and Hastings but they are great filters too.

So did you keep track of the total make up oil you added after changing the filter 3 times and bringing the dipstick back up to the full mark during the 20k?

I didn't keep track. The car doesn't use oil, and I don't recall having added through the top. But I must have since I removed filters full of oil, and I keep the oil topped off.

Sorry, this is where I desagree and U beleive there Has never been a test to prove this. Mine opinion has always been that in a "well operating engine" the oil filter is pretty much useless in trapping any particles. Thus, no different results in a UOA whether one changes it or not
