A freakin American flag is supposed to transcend all of that. People make assumptions about me because I have a flag sticker on my truck and it really grinds
my gears. We’re all in this together!

100% true unfortunately our flag has been co-opted and is now associated with a certain group. Locally pickup trucks flying an American flag in the bed beside a Rebel flag doesn't do much to bring us all together.
Here's mine.
My Father enlisted in the Navy during WW II. My Mom had 5 brothers overseas. Uncle Terry was a Marine Corps war hero; he fought in the deadly Guadalcanal Campaign. My Mom told me he was never the same. Her sister Aunt Gen married Larry Geibel, a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Reserve (USNR) who served during World War II, specifically identified as commanding the Clemson-class destroyer USS Thornton.
