My sister owned one back in the day I remember it as being a decent car.

My future wife drove one in college, had a bumper sticker that said 'this is not an abandoned car' and a glove box stuffed full of Boston parking tickets...knew the she was a keeper.

304 V8???

Bill
Nope, it's a 258 cid 6-cyl, it says 4.2 Liter on the back. Big brother to the 199 cid, 232 cid, and 242 cid (Jeep 4.0L) AMC 7 main bearing OHV I6 engines, an excellent 6-cyl that was in production for over 40 years.
The one in the picture looks like a 1972, although it could be a late 1971. I owned two of them back in the day, a 1971 and a 1973. I installed a 390 in the 1971 and a 401 in the 1973. The 1973 turned 11.90's.

Dads friend had an orange ‘76 as a basic daily driver for about 11 years. AFAIK it was a perfectly reliable car.

A childhood friend's dad worked at the AMC proving grounds. I am originally from the general area.
