Alternator for 2006 TSX

A few years ago I replaced the alternator on wifey's 2006 TSX, which has been a great car.
Other than regular service, I have replaced the water pump (120K miles) and alternator (150K miles).
I used an O'Reilly's Ultima alternator; I don't remember if it was reman or new. My guess is new...

At 180K miles, it is starting to show signs of failing.
I have not checked the output because I recently had foot/ankle surgery and hafta stay off my feet for another month.
I replaced the battery as well with a Costco Interstate, so that is not the problem.

Question: What alternators seem to last?
My guess is a reman Denso might be the way to go?
I believe a new Denso is big bucks... Sheesh!

Well the orilleys alternator may have failed early, it definitely wasn't so bad it wouldn't be worth it to get another same kind. 30K isn't so bad, likely over 2 years of use. Since it has a lifetime warranty, I would take it back and get your new one free before buying another

What are your signs of failure? While I'm not a fan of parts store alternators, if you've got a lifetime warranty, might as well take advantage of it. But that all depends on how hard it is to replace.

Yup, get the reman Denso. About $100 plus the core charge

How much longer you keeping this car?

If you are going to trade it on at around 200k, just use your warranty and get another from O'Reilly's and keep your money for some other failure a 13 year old car with 180k miles will likely have.

Or take wifey out for a nice date on the money you would spend on a different alternator that may or may not be any better than the replacement from O'Reilly's.

I'd get a replacement under the store's warranty unless it's a Cardone remanufactured. They are junk. If you have to buy new, you may be able to find Denso at Oscaro or the Denso parts site, www.densoproducts.com. I had a 1990 Legend that blew the alternator, the only repair the car had in 214K miles other than a starter covered under warranty.

Bosch is the better reman unit, at least you get new bearings. Denso is replacing nothing except the brushes if its not worn out.

I've seen alternators from 600.00 to nearly 1,000. So, a couple hundred dollars isn't too bad. It could be worse. Get well soon!
