The point I am trying to make is that anybody can take good photographs and you do not have to be a professional photographer. Anybody with reasonably decent equipment and who learns about their equipment and learns about photography can take good photographs.

I am an amateur photographer. I have been paid for some wedding photography but essentially I am an amateur. Photography is one of my hobbies.

A professional photographer is at a higher level with training, experience, and equipment. I have a Canon 6D but that would probably be a backup camera for a professional using a Canon 5D. Even more important are the lenses. A professional wants buttons on the camera that make it easy to adjust various things, such as white balance and exposure.

Just decent quality cameras can obtain good results. Such as a Canon PowerShot S120 or a Nikon D3300.

Just like a mechanic has to learn about his tools, a photographer has to learn about his equipment. Learn the equipment (I just got the PowerShot S120 and I have not finished reading the owner's manual yet) and then learn how to compose the photographs. I imagine that I am a artist painting a scene. What do you want to include in the scene? What do you want for the photograph to say. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

Anyway, the haters are going to hate and anybody who likes the photographs can enjoy the photography. There are plenty of haters here but maybe there are also some people who can enjoy a photograph.

What? How hates photographs? Photographs are one of mankind's crowning achievements.

There are many EZ rules to get an inexperienced photog started.

Get in close
Watch the background-make it even (either up/down or left/right)
Ask people stop talking
Sneak about a room and get candid shots
Familiarize yourself with negative space
Take the time to move something into or out of a shot. Kira
