So about 20 mins ago I'm sitting at home watching this new DVD I got (Back to the future triology) and I hear a noise outside. Then knocking on my door. Since it was about 2:45 am, I went and retrieved my 9 mm before answering the door. I open the door and there's this guy I don't recognize who appears intoxicated and agitated. I figure there's no point in talking to him and close the door. It sounds like he yells and curses, but I thought he went away. A few minutes later he's opening my screen door and knocking on the door and trying to get in. I call the police and keep my Beretta in hand not knowing what this guy is going to do, maybe kick in the door, maybe he's armed. So he has my screen door open for a few minutes and is knocking and what not. It sound like he yells and leaves and wouldn't you know it the police pull up a few minutes after he's gone.

Now that psychopathic tweaker is lying passed out in the bushes. Later, when you're sound asleep, he will return. Ask him for whom he's looking. Then send him on his way-to your in-laws' house.

Yeah it just happened around 3 am. Well I don't know where he went. I went outside when the 2 police cruisers rolled up and we looked around and didn't see him. I've lived here about 20 years and it's the first time someone has come knocking on my door late at night. I hope it isn't a start of a new trend or something.

You must never lose track of an attacker. Did you lock the door while looking outside for the guy? If you didn't, he may be hiding in your pantry or in a closet. He could be on the roof.

Nah he's gone. I'm not sure what the jokes are for? He probably was just drunk and at the wrong house, but you'd think after I answered the door he'd realize that. He just kept yelling and knocking and trying to get in, so maybe he was trying to start trouble. Good thing he didn't break in, that would've made for a long night.

He's probably one of your neighbors you haven't met yet. You met him tonight, but he didn't meet you. Because he was blackout wasted.
Good to hear you're alright and possibly that your intoxicated neighbor didn't pursue trying to get into your house.

Yeah probably but I wonder what compelled him to finally disappear just before the police rolled up. It just goes to show though that if someone was intent on breaking in they could be in in your house before you could dial the phone let alone before the police show up.

Maybe he got hungry and went for a burger before coming back. Maybe he went to buy matches and a gallon of gasoline.
You should put bars at least on your first floor windows. Make sure they conform to code and open to the outside to let you escape in case of a fire. The guy could be a pyromaniac and arsonist.

That doesn't sound like a home invasion. That sounds like a drunk guy who has no idea where he is. A home invasion is when multiple perps armed with guns storm your house. This guy probably would end up shooting himself in the foot if he were armed.
I would attribute it to Saturday night and the intoxication of the individual.
But the essential point is this: You are responsible for your own safety. The police will almost never be able to arrive in time to prevent a crime.

Yeah pretty much with 2 or 3 different layouts but my layout is the most common. Slight difference like different color siding, shutters etc.
