Their fall had to have been broken while on the way down. After doing a bit of research, it was not a 330 ft flight to a dead stop.

Bit still good job on Tesla, I suppose. Still aint got much on the San Angeles PD, 2032........aint that far away now.....WOW if feel old.

This was up in Pacifica, just south of The City, near Devil's Slide. All over the news, of course. Nothing short of a miracle.
The Fire Dept, CHP, Coast Guard and others jumped into action; true heroes. They wasted zero time.

Seems like people are quick to hate on Tesla for a few isolated accidents, but I don't recall any positive stories of their occupant protection systems. How does everybody live after plunging 330 feet off a cliff? This was in January but I don't recall seeing this mentioned in the press until now.

I believe the Tesla let the driver down as he was trying to kill the other occupants....

Probably a violent roll down a very steep embankment, more so than a "plunge". Also in the video which shows the mangled car, most of the shots are after the firefighters had chopped it up with power tools. I think the main pillars around the passengers remained intact during the crash.

That looks like a real life Loony Tunes situation. They might have survived but I bet they had severe injuries.
The 2 young children in the back had minor to moderate injuries; the parents in the front had major injuries.
Regardless, had the car landed on any of the huge rocks, or on its roof, etc, it would have been all over.

Again, the rescuers sprung into action. Amazing, horrifying story. A miracle in so many ways.

But you're right; the father is nuts. His intention was to kill them all.

Uggg. I didn't read the article so I didn't see that part of it. Sad.

My thought was of the cartoons where the guy bounces down the hill saying och ouch all the way down to be caught by a tree then fall some more. But now that is see the rest of the story it is not appropriate.

I would have guessed the entire nation would have seen this on the news. That the people survived, that the car landed as it did, is simply amazing. The teamwork and speed of the rescuers made the Bay Area proud.

The sad thing is that isn't anywhere near big enough to make a blip on the national news. Many people know a murderer, suicide victim or murder suicide victim with some of them verging on mass so it doesn't register. When there is a bright side of any of these situations it doesn't register.

I am glad the family survived. Hopefully they can resolve their issues without too much pain.

I did see the info when the story broke. As much as I dislike Tesla it's pretty impressive. However I've seen Teslas catch fire with way less so I was actually expecting it to have caught fire. The craziest thing is that it was intentional and won't prosecute the guy as it was considered a mental issue.

Coworker of mine recently had a double-Tbone accident. One guy hit him, sent him into oncoming traffic, where he was hit again. Whole family in the car. The first impact was moderate, and the second was hard. Had to use the jaws of life to get his wife out. They all walked away once out of the car. Model Y. They are buying another one without hesitation.

I keep hearing that EVs are unsafe, fire hazards , too heavy . Please…..
The frame structure is strong, for sure. But had this car not landed as it did, it would not have been good.
I can tell you, from a driving standpoint, the Model 3 is substantial. The low center of gravity and pig heavy battery add to the feel.

Let say it exploded like an ICE would and burned it would have attracted the let’s find a random thing to dislike about EVs.

Probably, but we can be reasonably sure based on past EV fires that it would have burned longer, hotter, been a lot more difficult to put out, and polluting more while it was burning. Back to the topic, thank God they survived.
