AlfredCamera security phone app... Anyone use it?

I read this article about using an old Android phone as a security camera and alarm.

I have several decent Android phones which I'd like to try setting up as an camera/alarm system in our beach house to augment the 3 outside cameras I already installed.
I'd set it up inside. Anyone use this app? Experience with it?

Not sure what decent is, but I threw my Sony ages ago because it was hot as a stove without using anything. Using the camera & transferring data even on wifi will keep it hot. Plus I guess it will be constantly charging.

Not saying don't do it, just use the Note 7 trick

I did read about the problems with the phone being plugged in to charge non-stop... bulging batteries or something. I guess you could manage that situation with a smart wall plug...but than have to question value and convenience.
