On windows with an non updated operating system, you should not use banking websites, or enter credit cards into websites or there is a chance your info will be hacked. I fully understand this issue, and always keep windows and chrome updated on the machine I use for banking and ordering. As such I have NEVER had a card hacked since windows vista, up to today. Windows XP I had several cards hacked moments after ordering.

I don't understand how the android security model works. Say you are using android 13 with a security patch level of July 1st 2023. But you are keeping all your apps up to date on the google play store. Is this phone safe to order food, with your credit card? Is it safe to have your credit card and banking apps on this outdated operating system? Or is this asking for getting hacked?

I use Google Pay and assume they can worry about it. The biggest headache of a hacked credit card is having to reassign auto payments. You're not on the hook for any payments so I don't worry much about it.

The OP mentions banking websites besides credit cards. If your phone gets hacked, that could be a big issue.
