And why would anyone remotely insist on abusing the carry-on privilege? Maybe they don't want to contribute to the $6 billion dollar heist?
You never saw the baggage and "change" fees until 2001 (at least not to this extreme), when the airlines, desperate to cover ever increasing fuel costs, needed some sort of "drop it on the passenger" revenue generating mechanism. And it ain't going away.
At least not in the manner the pensions at the airlines went away.
So let's see, fuel costs go up, healthcare costs to up the airlines are trying to stay competitive on ticket prices because Joe consumer only looks at it, and the airlines are trying to pull some semblance of profit.
Would you prefer that they all go out of business? If they're not making a profit, they do t have a reason to stay in business.
Or would you prefer they all merge because they can't stay afloat any other way? I'm sure the ticket process will. E better with less competition, baggage fees or not, lol.
Sure, I'd rather see the real cost reflected in the ticket price. But like dparm, I rarely check a bag even if going away for over a week/10 days. So why should I have costs for someone checking two bags included in my ticket price?
