Air filter for a PT Cruiser

I'm having a hard time finding one.

I went to my local auto part store. They have two aisles full of Purolator and Fram filters. I looked in both books for the correct part number. Then I looked on the shelf for it. They don't even have the part number on the shelf. This is for Purolator and Fram. I would think since the PT Crusier has been out for three years and is really popular, stores would stock it.

I went onto Napaonline and checked for a part number. They don't even show one. I guess I will have to buy a relabeled Mopar one from the dealer for more money.

This happen on my 1990 Nissan P/U. Nobody made a air filter for it until around four years later. I just kept buying a oem Nissan one.

In this case, I'd go with the OEM air filter. I have a PT also and recently replaced the air filter. I remember looking at a Purolator (they had them at Pep Boys), but the pleat count was lower. The NAPA "deluxe" air filter seems to be well regarded on this board, but is not available for the PT Cruiser. I'm pretty sure the NAPA "regular" air filter is available for the PT Cruiser. Not sure about Frams, but I had some poor luck with the seal on one in my wife's van. In the end I got an OEM filter from the Chrysler dealer, even though it cost a bit more, it seems to be the best air filter available for the Cruiser.

What oil filters are you using?

I'm currently using the Purolator PureOne 20195. It's a bit longer than the stock filter (10241) but seems to have the same fundamental specs. I was a little concerned that using a non-specified oil filter could cause grief if I had an engine problem under waranty, but I'm out of waranty now. I e-mailed Purolator and got the following in reply:

The Purolator L10241 is 2.98 inches in diameter, 3.42 inches tall, has a 3/4-16 UNF-2B center hole and threads, a 12-15 psi pressure relief valve, and an anti-drain back valve.

The Purolator L20195 is 2.98 inched in diameter, 4.77 inched tall, has a 3/4-16 UNF-2B center hole and threads, a 12-15 psi pressure relief valve
and an anti-drain back valve.

There may be several other differences in the two filters, but only engineering would have that data.
