I am driving to the library just now and I see the red air bag light on.
Can anybody suggest a fix.
Thanks.

If you have lost steering wheel accessories(horn/Cruise) could be the clockspring.

Could be a lose wiring harness. Did anyone bump into you lately? You will need it scanned by dealer level scan tool or something that will read airbag lights.

That happens to my daughter's car once and a while. The key doesn't always return fully to the run position after starting, causing the airbag light to go on. The radio and fan are also off. Moving the key slightly returns things to normal.

I had a hyundai with bad alternator throw the airbag light. It wouldn't clear itself with decent power again, either. Had to go to dealer.

Other than the dealer, a good shop, particularly one that does body work, will probably have a code reader for the air bag system. You may be able to get the code read their more economically.

Likely culprits:
Clockspring: the steering wheel is constantly working that part.
Wiring under seats: junk shoved under the seats may have damaged the wiring.

In any event, if you work on the airbag system, be cautious and know what you're doing. Those things can be lethal.
