AI - Shorter workweek? Consume jobs?

C.)War against the machines. For any and all positive benefits for mankind, I am convinced that developing technology like this is going to used against mankind at some point in time, whether it be in declared conflicts or something more nefarious.
That's true of just about everything.
Regarding AI, the Internet, etc specifically, we have been bombarded for years with mis-information, and worse. And people believe it.

I choose to focus on the positive. AI will greatly advance medicine and provide care for far more people; costs will go down.
Here's one article discussing ways AI is playing a role today. There is so much more!

I posted someplace about this past weekend and forgot where. I had a conversation with ChapGPT
She offered to take a look at my medical evaluation on my recent and almost finished (I hope with over a years worth of cancer care.
She mentioned I can remove any personal information. So right from my medical "my chart" I dropped the entire evaluation of my PSMA Pet Scan including all data. Pure data and linage entered by whomever.

There are a lot of codes, cancer grading SUV uptake (some of which I know)
In what was not even seconds, line by line she educated me about my prognosis for each and every category. Yeah, I knew the overall picture but in a strange way it was nice to know my doctors did not miss anything. She reported to be so complete. Including the aggressive nature of my cancer with its high SUV score but good news it was caught early. Anyway, she even gave me percent of my lifespan survival. (which I already knew) for 10 years she put similar cases of 90 to 95% which coincides with my doctors 90% for 15 years. Yeah, that is wonderful but it does mean 1 out of 10 wont make it.

Most of all she spoke/texted like a human, with emotion on the good part and not so good.

BITOG does not allow text from AI I would post her transcript if it was allowed. Im not sure if this is different. Or maybe I can put it up someplace else. MEDICAL FIELD is going to be HUGE. No longer have to worry if the doctor is missing something in your test results or if he/she truly examined them closely. There is ANOTHER site which offers for me to drop the actual PETSCAN imaging in for AI evaluation!

I know @JeffKeryk is big on this AI for medical and my facing my first real health crisis AI will be a godsend in the medical field. Look at that Jeff, we agree on yet another subject !!! :)

AG, my title was, "Solutions Architect". My job was to gather data from various sources, organize it and present it in a business format for the C-Level staff to make decisions on, and to prepare legal reporting to the SEC. We are talking about a 20 year, world wide project.

I understand the value and dangers of Computer Science. We are seeing the dawn of an incredible time; a huge inflection point.
The real beauty of Artificial Intelligence? We can ask questions far harder than ever before; questions we could not have even dreamed of.

That's my experience.

I have a colleague who is neck deep in AI. I asked him the last time we had lunch to convince me that AI wasn't going to kill us all. His reply was "Oh, it's definitely going to kill us all". 🤪

"Even with the inflation rate of change sticky at around 2.8%, the Fed is behind the curve when it comes to lowering rates as the economy shifts from job freezes to job cuts.

AI is impacting many white-collar, middle management jobs and those positions are going the way of your hairline.
Workforces are retooling for new skills. Many companies are establishing AI certification programs to get their current employees up to speed.

Skilled labor is the future. Sociology or gender studies degrees are only going to be suitable for securing employment positions that will thoroughly disappoint you.

BTW, this isn't a rant against any political party, Republican or Democrat. This marks the private sector's transition into the next phase of the intelligence revolution.

Either we're part of it or we're out.

The robots aren't coming. They're here!"

What's interesting is China has a very favorable opinion of AI and is doing a much better job implementing it into their economy. The west is the one that is scared of it.

Besides what I posted, even the voice and almost sounding emotion in the AI is amazing and we know that it will refine (or refine itself) further moving forward. On another subject, I had an experience that was life like in its voice. Actually it was pretty cool and can get addicting with pleasant straight forward knowledgable answers peppered with maybe still to be refined emotion but darn good.

*LOL* You will get a kick out of this one!!! A medical practice called me up the other day to schedule an appointment, she sounded so ridged that after a few minutes I asked if she was AI. (I swear I am not joking) She was so monotone and on point.
She said no, she was real and honestly? some AI conversations I had were more natural sounding then the lady from the medical office! Now that is creepy! But I am all good with Technology, always have been ...

AS I posted above, I am so impressed with it and remember, we are just on the cusp of what is to be. I hate to say it but I can certainly feel better having a conversation with AI WORKING for a company then a human who may not be as knowledgable NOR AS EASY TO UNDERSTAND which sometimes is impossible when talking to a human.

‘China is going to win the AI race’ — Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang decries the price of electricity in the US, contrasts it with China's subsidized pricing

He cited the West's cynicism, export controls, and favorable energy circumstances in China as the reason, claiming it is much easier for companies to access energy in the country.

Of course I hope CEO Huang is wrong, but there is so much head-in-the-sand, fear and disdain for technology here.

Thank god we are a large and diverse country. There are states that are actively "courting" technology and data centers.
Alabama is a big one that has been very proactive in the past years. Now despite some local opposition are trying like heck to approve a 4 million sq foot data center around the size of 15 football fields that will clear 700 acres of land and use as much electricity as the city of Seattle. The town board who was in favor last spring delayed a vote and now to vote in October. I dont know the outcome and my knowledge limited, opposition and threats from a national organization to sue and prevent it hang in the balance. Go figure ... I cant seem to find the outcome. But I suspect much delays and "they" will pack up their plans and see what other states might want them.

SC has been proactive in "courting" a large industrial base and just lately looking to restart construction of two nuclear plants of which the state is already 50% nuclear.

Damage control.

“As I have long said, China is nanoseconds behind America in AI. It’s vital that America wins by racing ahead and winning developers worldwide,” he added.

Huang has long stated that the U.S. can stay ahead in the AI race if it keeps developers reliant on Nvidia’s leading AI chips — an argument the CEO has used to lobby against export restrictions on his company’s sales to China.
