I had a little mishap with my car so I won't be driving it for a while. I am wondering if the car sitting for approximately 6 weeks will affect a used oil analysis.

The car has ~1000 miles on it since the last oil change and won't be driven again until nearly christmas and then it will go back to its normal driving duty.

hmmm, i would assume that when you do drive it again if you can drive it on the highway to get it to optimum temp and burn off the [censored] in the oil should be fine

Shortly after I get the car back it will have a 55 mile trip to my apartment.

I'm not worried about the engine. Just if I should wait for another OCI to do a used oil analysis on it.

My plan was to run the current Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 for a total of 5000 miles and do a used oil analysis. Then run Pennzoil Platinum 5w40 for 5000 miles and compare them. If the car likes the 5w40, then I'll switch to Delo 5w40 and use that in both the Neon and the GC.

So I guess, should I put off the switch to 5w40 comparison til after a more uniform OCI?

Well, the car is noisy as can be (by design) and I'd rather it be quiet. I figure a 5w40 is worth a shot. It's not going to hurt it as people have used 20w50 for long periods of time without killing them.
