AFE Pro Dry S vs. Amsoil Ea

On the 2010 Altima V6, the OEM air filter uses an oiled paper media.

I would like to replace the OEM air filter with a reusable air filter.

I do not want to deal with the hassles of cleaning and reoiling the filter, so I will only purchase filters that are oil-free.

So, the two filters that I'm considering are the AFE Pro Dry S and the Amsoil Ea.

The Amsoil filter is only good for four years, but the AFE one does not have an expiration.

I'm sure the Amsoil product is good, but does anyone know anything about the AFE product?

A factory filter that's oiled? That's strange.

I would consider the AFE filter to be inferior to the Amsoil Ea filter. The Amsoil filter is tested to higher specifications (fine vs. coarse dust test).
 
Honda OE paper air filters are lightly oiled too.

There was an UOA with AFE Pro Dry S. It performs as good or better than OEM paper filter.

Amsoil's filter has better filtration, lower flow and shorter life compared to the AFE. The Amsoil is not washable. The AFE has better air flow, less filtration (but still VERY good), and has a longer life because it is fully washable.

I thought that the Amsoil filters had very good flow/low restriction?

Not any of the ones I have seen/tested. They are all just paper filters with added layer of synthetic media to trap more dirt. They flow slightly less than regular paper filters for the ones I have seen.

I think the EaAU is their "high flow" line of filters but are only made for intake type setups.

Where are you getting this info that the Amsoil Ea Air Filter is better at trapping particles versus the AFE Pro Dry.

Well, the Amsoil filters better than a paper filter, which filters better than the AEM dryflow, which filters better than the AFE Pro Dry. The lab tests are out there if you want to find black and white numbers.

Try some google. They have been posted on this site multiple times but this search engine isn't that great. You'll have to integrate results from multiple sources to come to a rational conclusion.

If that's the case, I just replaced mine with a WIX from rock auto and it was identical to the OEM one in our Sentra. I changed it out at 25k and it look like it was in great condition.

Well according to amsoils online lookup, they dont make one for your car. However AFE does make a Pro-dry s for your car, that would make the choice rather easy.

Well according to amsoils online lookup, they dont make one for your car. However AFE does make a Pro-dry s for your car, that would make the choice rather easy.


The EAA74 is listed for the 2009 Altima, which is the same vehicle.
 
I just changed from an AFE PG7 to an Amsoil 6075 cone filter. MAJOR flow difference. My interpretation of those filters in comparison is that the AFE PG7 is thick and relies on layers....the Amsoil uses technology to get filtration PLUS the flow. I know what I'm sticking with...
