advice on Vavoline 5W30 vs Durablend 5W30

Hi,
I plan on changing my oil/filter on my 2005 Hyundai Elantra
GLS this weekend. I have 29000 miles and the car runs flawlessly
so far.
I like Valvoline products and im debating between using their
conventional 5w30 conventional or DuraBlend 5W30.
My goal is the own the car and take it to 200,000 miles on conservative easy driving.
Would the DuraBlend be the better choice for the engine long term
or should I save the money and just use the 5w30 conventional?

it's quite chilly where your at right now. I would go with the durablend and take advantage of better cold flow properties.

Another great option would be motorcraft 5-30 semi syn. VERY good oil and will cost about what the dino cost.

I agree with the durablend for the winter. I'd just use regular Valvoline conventional in the summer though.

Durablend is an excellent oil. If you have access to it, I'd use that.

If price is a concern, I'd say go with Premium conventinal year-round.

The Syn Blend pour point is the same for the dino vs the blend. The blend is slightly thinner when measured at -30*C but only by a small amount.

Conventional 5w30: -36 pour point, 5541 @ -30*C, Base # 7.5
Durablend 5w30: -36 pour point, 4800 @ -30*C, Base # 8.0

The durablend is better, but not as much as the price difference would make you believe.

I agree with the other comments on Motorcraft 5w30, it's an excellent value.

Motorcraft 5w30: -42*C pour point, 5900 @ -30*C, Base # 7.8

Any of the three oils should serve you well. My previous car went well over 200,000 miles with regular conventional valvoline and never used or burned any oil or had any engine related issues, and much of that was the house-brand Valvoline sold by Napa and Carquest.

Motorcraft oil in a Hyundai??
My WalMart is selling Motorcraft 5W30 Syn Blend for $2.70/qt!
Would this oil be of the same quality as the Valvoline DuraBlend?
If so, its a no brainer, I guess!

Motorcraft is just re-labeled Conoco/Phillips/Kendall oil.

QuakerState is the factory fill for your Hyundai. In all honesty, you could run it on any name brand or house brand oil with the starburst on it (including walmart supertech) and get excellent results.

According to Amsoil's look-up it's 4.3 quarts with filter, but take it with a grain of salt. I've noticed many discrepancies on their look-up.

By the way, how is the Castrol Edge working for you? Any improvement in gas mileage at all?

Keep in mind neither of these oils have any moly. Both Toyota and Honda are coming out with oils that are loaded with moly.
