Well I just got the local deal on the PP/Bosch filter combo. $26.99 for 5 qts and the new "Distance" Bosch oil filter. The clear vinyl box alone probably accounts for half the $14 price tag, had I bought it outright. "Holds more dirt", "filters longer", "designed for synthetic as well as conventional oil".

I just hope that this filter, which weighs as much as any other filter I've ever held - full of oil - has an anti-drainback valve!

I'm pretty sure the Bosch filter has twice the capacity for dirt/junk than the Pureone, plus it's heavier and so I doubt the filters are similar.

It is very heavy. Looks like a glasspack inside... and is about 3 mm shorter than the Delco PF61E.

I brought the pp/with the bosh distance plus filter from AA yeturday morning. I put it in my 04 grand prix S/C hope that will getto april before my next oil change. the filter is heavy but well see.

Heck of a deal , I bought 5W 30 PP and Bosch Distance Plus filter for my Buick (current fill is M1 0W 30 with NAPA Gold Filter). I don't see how I can go wrong ...

+1

They ARE similar but on the DP the media is thicker hence more dirt holding and efficient filtration.

now weather it's a different make up of thicker media then the P1 or just thicker and the same,,,who knows.

The internals of quality oil fiters are going to be "similar." However, I wasn't sure if the insinuation was that they were for the most part clones, which wouldn't be accurate. The Bosch is significantly heavier (the heaviest filter that I have ever held)and holds twice the junk in comparison to the P1. It is a great extended drain oil filter like the Mobil EP fiters that also hold twice more than the P1.

By the way, this is a fantastic deal.
