I'm in the midst of changing the window regulator/ actuator and had to remove the inner water proof plastic. The Acura is now 13years old and the adhesive which holds the plastic is no longer soft enough to reuse.
What do you recommend I use for this job. I'd like to get as close to origional as possible since I'm keeping this old girl till they pry me out of it.
Thanks for the help. Smoky

Just duct tape it back in place. It's behind the door panel and you won't see it anyway. Duct tape around the edges of the moisture barrier and if any of the duct tape shows from behind the door panel edges just use an Olfa knife or razor blade and trim it off.

If you really want to use an OEM style adhesive you can get a box of 3M black seam sealer caulking adhesive strips at Napa for about $15.00 to $20.00. You can stick those to the back of the moisture barrier in the same areas where the OE adhesive was located and then stick the moisture barrier back into place.

Either method will work fine and hold the moisture barrier in place for years to come.

Duct tape will dry out, ghetto style repair.

Im doing this on my mercedes. It never had butyl anything on the door, and Ive ever seen that kind of substance on any that Ive taken apart. Instead, the plastic is directly adhered to the surface.

Go to HD and buy 4 or 6 mil plastic, and 3M 90 spray adhesive. It is made specifically for adhering polyethylene to other surfaces.

The issue with the butyl tape when I tried it on my MB was that it was thick enough, even when worked down, that the door inside card didnt properly go back. To remove the plastic with it attached meant that the plastic ripped.

#m makes the same product that can be put on with a caulk gun, which is better since you could make a much finer bead that is workable.

You've never taken apart a Honda. The OP has a Honda, not a Mercedes. I don't care if the weather sheeting on a Mercedes is held on by fairy dust; it would still have nothing to do with a Honda.
