This is from the old RL website from (myoilshop.com)

With a mostly POE basestock, RL then has a tremendous amount of dispersant from the basestock and in addition, the overbased calcium. Is that correct?

The quote above was not to say that the esters were doing the job alone, but aiding the dispersency/detergency process.

Even with POE's, one needs a small amount of dispersant and the the metallic detergents, such as overbased calcium or magnesium.
