I'm using Mobil 1 5w20 with an '05 honda. Most recommend a high Moly oil with this engine, but with the exception of a few conventional oils, I see very little Moly in synthetic oils.

It seems that moly is also not as evident in oils that are thicker than 5-20 oils in dinos. For example, Pennzoil 5w20 conventional is known for it's high Moly.... and yet the Pennzoil 10w30 seems to have FAR less. (I am actually considering 10-30 for the summer, but I'm hoping to find something with more of a Moly formulation.)

So the questions are:
1. Is there any reason to add Moly to a synthetic 5-20 like Mobil 1 in my Honda?

2. Am I seeing the numbers correctly? Do 10-30 oils tend to drop their moly amounts? why?

3. Is there a 10-30 that is best suited for my Honda in either Conventional or Synthetic (which has a USA recommendation of 5-20) perhaps with high moly? I am a high frequency oil changer, so perhaps synthetic isn't necessary.

4. I'm not finding Valvoline moly additives in any of my local car parts stores. What are other additive brands that would provide additional moly?

Thanks for the help! I'm taking a long road trip next week in the blazing sun, so I'd like to get an optimal oil flowing through the car before the trip!

You don't need Moly. Your fine with Mobil 1 the way it is or the way Amsoil is, which has no moly and does very well. Honda's do well with thin A1/A5 oils.
