Not easily without a frankenstein job. It probably won
t help much because the router has to be able to hear you as well. How far away are you from the router? What router are you using? I would go with a better router before modding a laptop.

What is the laptop? A better wireless card is probably a better idea than trying to do anything about the antenna. Most notebooks use an antenna that is inside the screen. They are capable of excellent reception.
I am retired and travel a good bit.
Both my Laptop and Netbook have no issues connecting @ various and Sundry Wi-Fi hot spots like motels, McDonald's, etc.
You may want to consider replacing that aging laptop with a new one that will work a lot better for you.

It's an HP ze4100. I don't want to upgrade,since i only use it for reading emails and looking stuff up. If i lose it,oh well, i only paid 120.00 for it.
