added auto-rx, oil pressure question inside.

Just added Auto-RX last night to a 95 camaro z28 with 150,000 miles. Here's what I did:

Since I'm trying to also stop a small oil leak, I replaced the 2,500 mile old Mobil 1 5w30 with Castrol GTX 10w30. I went with a higher viscosity to see it it would increase the oil pressure. After changing the oil and added Auto-RX I took it for a spin. I was surprised to see that the oil pressure decreased rather than increased. Is this normal when using Auto-RX? I'm not all that concerned, just interested to finding out the reason the oil pressure dropped. Was wondering if anyone with more engine experience than myself could puzzle this out.

Good chance Auto-Rx is cleaning off internal oil
sensor not unususal to read flucuations up or down during cleaning phase.After your done with
Auto-Rx application oil pressure will stabilize.
Also (oil) even dirty oil is now lubricating
parts of your engine that have been starved for lubrication.

I believe that as galleys and other oil flow areas are cleaned it is possible for oil pressure to decrease. As long as it doesn't get too low and the oil is flowing, your engine will actually be better off....if you truly had mechanical wear to the point of needing work/replacment - then the usual applies: nothing poured in from a bottle will help (much).

What kind of oil pressure do you see? I have a 95 Formula and typically see 40psi at 2000rpm and at full throttle too. Mine is automatic, so the idle is lower and at idle I see roughly 18psi when the oil is warmed up.

If you're seeing these kinds of numbers, you are fine.

I ran Auto-rx through my engine and it reduced my oil leak quite a lot. I was using one quart per 6000 miles before, but now it's closer to one quart per 10,000 miles.

Tested with a mechanical gauge.

The dash gauge tells me that the pressure maxes out at about 38 psi for anything above 2000 rpm.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm not worried, just found it interesting that a thicker oil in addition with a thick additive would result in a lower pressure. Also wondering how well the tratment will help clean up the oil cooler (stock). I plan on taking it off and inspecting it during the second oil change.

I plan to take internal pics of the previous oil filter(Mobil 1) and the two Bosch's used with the Auto-RX treatment for comparisons sake.

Also forgot to mention. My oil leak does not result in any noticeable loss of oil, just a mess on the transmission and starter. Just replaced the oil pan gasket hoping that would do the trick but no such luck. Since then I think I've narrowed it down to a leak at the rear of my passenger side valve cover. I've had a partially stuck open EGR valve for a while, I believe the heat from the egr pipe degraded the seal. Easy to fix if the Auto-RX does not take care of it.
