We are carrying ACDelco Dexos2 with ACEA A3/B4 + C3 and API SN rating. They said that it can be used for diesel engines. But here in the Philippines, most of the diesel oil are rated with CJ4 and people with diesel vehicles are asking CJ4 oil when doing the oil change.

The question is ... is there a co-relation between ACES A3/B4 + C3 to API CJ4? Cannot find any solid info on the web that really said Dexos 2 can be used in leiu of CJ4.

Cheers.

No. C3/Dexos 2 is mid saps (0.80) while CJ-4 is higher saps (1.00)

The CJ-4 is a true HDEO will last longer and have more anti-wear additives than C3.

You can't have A3/B3 + C3. They are mutually exclusive on sulphated ash levels. So, we really have nothing with which we can compare. A real A3/B3 or A3/B4 oil would theoretically be more suitable for long drain intervals than the average CJ-4 or CK-4, and C3 should be lower still - all things being equal.

There are applications where dexos2 and CJ-4 have been used interchangeably, but usually after some issue that an OEM has discovered and tried to remedy by TSB.
