I thought A3 was an HTHS spec of >3.5

It is. And that one requirement would preclude ANY conventional GF-4 oil from meeting A3. If Valvoline or anyone else is saying their conventional 10w30 meets A3 they are full of it.

Looked on the back of some Valvoline All Climate bottles at Walmart today, they say nothing about meeting A3. I did notice that it was the lowest priced conventional oil on the shelf barring ST and Trop Arctic. I was very surprised.

Umm..yeah..I was mistaken about Val ACC being rated ACEA A3....it's the Val Durablend that is. My bad.

Probally they say A1. Lowering volitility is easy of you want to raise CC too...less thin basestock and PPD. Dino GTX 30 weight cannot meet A3 HT/HS.

No it says A3. Its probably like Auto-Union said...it doesn't meet the whole A3...just part of it.

So was the gtx US or euro 10w30?
