They recently, last month to be exact, had a sale-$1.99/qt so i bought 10 quarts for gf's old 1996 honda accord and dad's 1991 mercury wagon. so far so good. I should have bought more i guess. Anyone here have any advice about ACE or store brand? both cars have small oil leaks so i didn't want to pay more than $2.50/qt.....

Most large retailers probably source from a large company where they've already run the sequence tests and can submit that data to API. I've seen supermarket brands and even 7-11 house brand motor oil. I doubt they have enough volume to justify having a unique product where they have to pay for the testing.

Made by Olympic Oil. Not much info out there about them other than they make Briggs & Stratton oil which is decent stuff. I took advantage of the $1.99/quarts sale and bought a case of SAE30. I'm a shade-tree small engine mechanic on the side and that case is almost gone. Very happy with the performance and price thus far.
