Noticed my air handler is making a weird noise which I'm thinking it's the motor . When I cut power while it's running the noise is gone the squirrel cage is still spinning which leads me too the motor. Any suggestions ? I found a protech and a climatek ( 100 less )
 
I changed the blower motor in my furnace a few months ago. I tried to drip some 10w40 on the bearing but that only helped temporarily. I bought a Lennox motor off Amazon for $330. Not too hard of a job to replace it. I did get couple little cuts from the metal edges inside the furnace.
 
probably worth taking it apart for an inspection.. but I would be tempted to just guess and have a motor on hand if its returnable.

Avoid crapo brands such as VEVOR.
Otherwise those parts can be a commodity not much difference except the $$$ $$ $$$$ and marking on the box.

If you are in a hurry granger can probably get you parts in 1 day.
I have used them and amazon... less crap on granger but sometimes 30-40% $$ more than amazon.
 
Reach over to the shaft side of the squirrel cage.

The shaft will move in and out.
If it moves side to side/ up and down, the bearing is bad.
 
Found the problem the squirrel had separated from the fins .Thanks alot Guys !!!

Do not use engine oil to lube motor bearings. Either 10 weight non detergent motor oil or zoom spout oiler for motors. Detergent oil will not flow through sintered bronze bearings.

That’s interesting. Why does that happen?

Detergents in a motor oil aren’t actually detergents and I don’t know why they wouldn’t flow through a sintered bearing.
