I replaced an old Delco air filter and replaced with a new Wix. The delco has 80 folds, the Wix had 72. The delco has the 3 glue lines, the Wix did not. They both appear to be good quality builds. The Wix cost $20 and available. The Delco was only available at the dealer for to much $$$. That is why I went with Wix. The Delco can be had for $24 online. After the fact, I looked at the Purolator $13 and the fram $14. The fram had 78 folds, the Purolator did not look good out the box (glue lines sloppy) so I did not even bother to count the folds. All but the Wix had glue lines. Based on my comparison, I will order a Delco for next air filter change or go with the Fram.

Seems like there is a "light duty" and "heavy duty" version of the Wix on RA 42487 and 42488 (not sure if both are replacements for all vehicles or just the one I looked up). Maybe the heavy duty comes with glue

Keith, I did tap the filter and a lot of dirt/dust came off it before I took the pics. Im sure I could have gone a little longer with it. The air filter indicator on the vehicle said it was still in the green but barely. I usually change my air filters every 12K miles or 12 months.

I tapped the air filter lightly on solid surface then re-installed every year when I do oil change. The filter is usually lasted about 40-50k miles/4-5 years or a little longer.

The filter in the Wix box looks like a Fram. Has all the telltale signs like the thinnish wire mesh and the radioactive orange foam. Of course it could be the same supplier, as Fram boxes only say that they're made for them.

I remember the days when AC air filters were easy to find at KMart for super cheap. And even after they dropped them, I remember seeing some parts stores that specialized in AC Delco parts for all cars. This place had a big sign and AC Delco everything, including coolant tabs, PSF, motor oil, Dexron III ATF, tranny filters, etc. I even remember needing a new battery for my Integra and they had an AC Delco group 51R battery.
