The following images are of a AC Delco PF-63 taken off a 2011 Chevy Traverse with the 3.6L DI V6. Oil and filter were run for 7.5k miles, which was down to 3% on the OLM. Oil was Amsoil ASL 5w30.

As you can see, the filter seemed to hold up fine - no complaints about it. However, I am bothered by the significant amount of build-up in the can - these pictures are taken after it had drained for 3 days. Any ideas on what this gunk could be? The past filters from this vehicle saw similar OCIs, but the cans had no such particles.

Do the brown splotches rub off with your finger touching them? They almost look like rust. Are you getting a used oil analysis? They certainly could have been there from the filter manufacturing process.

The particles do come off, but they aren't big grit pieces by any means. I did not get a used oil analysis this time, but will in two more OCIs. The previous used oil analysis came back fine.

As long as it is dexos1 certified you are covered under your warranty. DI engines are harder on the engine oil therefore the new certification.
