Ac delco, canadian side...

Do you know who make the Ac delco oil filter in Canada ?

They are white, with the inscription made in Canada. My model is PF47C bought at the dealership.

Patman, I decided that I'll sleep better at night if I keep using Ac Delco filters instead of the Carquest Premium.

Both cars are on warranty with also an extended warranty, so I wanted to take one more excuse away from GM in the event of a catastrophic failure. The Ac are also pretty good. Thanks for your great advice anyway .

By visual comparison they appear to be made by Wix, who I believe also makes the NAPA filters in Canada.
I also use a PF47C and I definitely prefer AC Delco as they seem to be constructed more solidly than purolator or fram (I have seen both have spring failures that allowed the element to be loose in the canister).

It's true, the AC Delcos in Canada are made by Dana, who also makes Wix, NAPA Gold, Carquest premium, Kralinator and more.

From speaking with a Dana rep, the AC Delco filter isn't as good as the premium filters though, as the AC Delco uses only a regular cellulose media, and does not flow as well. Plus it's antidrainback valve is not silicone, so it's not as durable.

I wouldn't sleep at night knowing I could've run a better filter!

Besides, in the event of a failure, just put on an AC Delco filter! Save one of them which is dirty so it doesn't just look like you slapped on a brand new one when the engine blew!

Patman, I was on the phone with a Dana rep few minutes ago.

He told me that the Ac delco are ALMOST the exact copy of the Dana gold, and Carquest Premium.

The only difference is the anti drain back valve.

Ac Delco use Nitrile, and the others use silicone.

They all use the same filtering media

This is not a critical difference in my application since I doesn't really need the valve.(filter almost vertical)

Now I don't know what to believe, since I had email correspondence with a Dana rep who told me the AC Delco filters did not use the same media at all, that the AC Delco did not use any fibreglass in it, it was just a regular cellulose media.

Based on my oil pressure readings on my car, I would tend to believe that the AC Delcos media is different. In my last two intervals I ran an AC PF1218 and a Carquest 85060 and I definitely saw higher oil pressure spikes at the redline with the AC.

Although I'm switching back to the K&N oil filter anyways, since I saw no oil pressure spike at all at redline with those filters.

I know you're not arguing, I just don't know what to believe when two different reps from the same company give out totally different info. It happens all too often unfortunately.
