My 2003 Nissan Pathfinder LE auto 4 wheel Dr, the abs light came on then theh 4 wheel drive light came on and locked out my selector switch so I can not switch it into 4 wheel unless I fix the ABS wheel sensor which I checked and its opened and has to be replaced, its to cold with snow now , so if I pull the ABS relay or fuse under the hood will my 4 wheel selector work now without the abs which I'm not concerned about now until after the weather gets warmer. ? thank you Ron - [email protected]

I really know nothing of your AWD system, but many require ABS for the "anti-slip" to actually work. I would get it properly diagnosed, it could be as simple a dirty/bad sensor.

Maybe ask on a Nissan Pathfinder forum as well.

If you have a center diff the programming probably wants to know if one wheel/axle is endlessly spinning, which could damage that diff or simply just not work.

I suspect though it's a typical traction control scenario where the brake for that corner grabs that spinning wheel so the power goes to the rest of them.

Anyway, I'm glad the system is compelling you to fix it properly.

this would frustrate me greatly--- to lose a vehicle function like this over an electronic woe. Perhaps Nissan has some programming to provide superior car control over old-fashioned 4wd, however the idea of getting stuck in the snow because I lost an ABS sensor when perhaps some packed ice tore the connector would infuriate me.
