The trick is to use clear tubing. You just watch the fluid fill the tube and stop and either pinch it off ..or put your finger over it to stop it from draining back. Lower the tube end to below the resevour ..drain into cup.
Of course the first time you might have some natural conditioned reflex to act like its a McDonalds Thick Shake and really apply some vacuum
..but pithing (I think that's the term) was a common practice for blood work and even nuclear fuel drawing (Silkwood) in the not too distant past.
I had a '92 Honda Accord, and the Factory Service Manaul recommended removing one of the hoses (can't remember if it was return or supply) from the reservoir and turning the wheel back an forth till all the fluid was out. It was then refilled and the wheel was turned back and forth until all the air was out of the system.
