A Question to Police officers?

Some people say to leave it be and it was probably some stupid kid on Spring Break. Some say to call the police. I am always skeptical about calling the police in "petty" situation because I have no idea what police would do. What would they do? I never saw the person and there's no camaras.

Should I call the Police or leave it be? I used to be anti-gun but I'm reconsidering about getting a concealed weapons permit.

Well a good thing came out of it - you became pro-gun.

I would report it to the police. I'm half asian and know what your going through. When the U.S Navy transferred my dad from California to Memphis, TN in 1985, someone took banana peels and put them on the side of our brick home. The banana peels made an asian face with one of those bamboo hats. I've never forgotten that.

I'm not a cop.......

I would not mention the gun myself. I agree with most of what Bill in Utah says. SX650 has good advice as well. Even if you think your case is a slam dunk, it can flip flop the other way.
Too much human error/emotions going on in any court case. I know trust me.

If you washed off the KKK graffiti maybe your neighbors can vouch that they saw it before you washed it off. Just tell the cops you wanted to get it cleaned up and did not think anything of it.
But after thinking about it you should have taken pictures and now want to report it.

When my family lived in a crime infested neighbor our home got broken in twice in 1 year, luckily nobody was home both times. Both times the polices came to investigate told me I should keep a gun in the house, if I didn't have any then should buy one, to defend my family. Luckily, my family moved to a very safe neighborhood now.

You guys are right, don't mention buying gun to the police when you report the crime on your property.

In my state you don't need a permit to CCW in your own home or business.

I fail to see what this does in the you-vs-them, if it's concealed, they don't know about it, and you're the same guy you were last week as far as any onlookers are concerned.

Called the non-emergency number to report a neighbors party last fall, the helpful dispatcher asked if it was loud, I said "no not really"

but asked for extra patrols.

There was another, louder party the next weekend. Called them back, 1st responding cop just sat, lights off and waited for backup. Had kids running through the woods, neighboring dept mutual aid response, etc. Maybe they had drugs, who knows. But they do respond to what some would think was little stuff.

Also look into trespassing law, here you can waltz on anyone's property if it isn't posted. One sign in your front yard can do a lot of protecting.

This was not the real KKK.
Just kids, most likely.
And I doubt that you were targeted individually.

A report should be filed. It may have other benefits down the road.

Probably, BUT, the kids don't need to be part of any recognized group. Might be as simple as the seeds of a neighbourhood gang budding. May be a single individual. It still needs to be reported. The cops will recognize the graffiti if it is done by an existing group or individual they are tracking. As others mentioned, when their time comes, the paper trail of their signs can make a difference.

Alex.

There's no reason not to report it. Based on what you said, I seriously doubt it was anything targeted or serious but it can't hurt to report it.

I think I would just mention there was some grafitti, no reason to even let them know what your nationality is, just say what the grafitti was.

That's the law here in MS only it extends to you outside property now. It has always extended to your vehicle as well.

Anyone you don't know that comes upon your property and "messes" with anything can be shot if you catch them.

But I don't worry about that as I have a German Shepherd who let's me know when anyone she doesn't know comes up on the property. She's a great guard dog!

To the OP....I can sympathize with you as my two older grown children are half Chinese and they both got a lot of "flack" in high school and still do to some extent....even in their 30s.
