Logged into my Facebook account today for my quarterly check-in and saw that a picture that I posted about two years ago was getting blown up with comments between a few people about the fact that I used Castrol Edge Titanium 5W-30 for an oil change in my 2007 Taurus.
It just made me laugh at how no real evidence "directs" some people, so I thought I'd share 30 or so of the comments out of the couple hundred that blew up the photo.
Here's the pic (Dad's 180k '95 Beaut S10 in the background

Person 2: Castrol is the leading oil company for break down. In other words castrol breaks down before any other leading brand. I run valvoline. Always have and always will.

Person 2: I check mileage every tank on all my vehicles. I always strayed from valvoline by its a great balance product and my escort loves it. I'll toss a bottle of Lucas in every other change. I do my oil change every 2k and its clean as can be after that. I know guys log there Hondas ha I'll respect that but I hate them personally.

Me: If I would use any fuel system cleaner I'd use Chevron Techron but that shouldn't even be needed if you use a top tier fuel. And 2k on oil is very wasteful.

Person 1: It's not really good to add additives you kno... Look at the older dodge caravans with all the tyranny issues... People added stuff to the fluid and they started to buck and shift hard, should of just ran what it called for

Me: Lucas Oil additives aren't that great -- think of it as 80wt oil and soap that gets bubbly when it thins out

Person 2: Not with the way my car is driven its not wasteful. Still looks awesome when it comes out but I just run conventional. I don't do the additives. Just Lucas every 4k. I don't need fuel additives. Replaced my pump filter and tore down my injectors and reconditioned them over Christmas.
