a couple oil questions

My car is stored for the last month and i want to start it up. First off there is like 3 cm of fogging oil in each cylinder so i will have to take that out with this pump i bought. Then i wanted to warm up the oil pan for a good 15 minutes so the oil is warmer so it flows better at start up. But i have a question its a 5-20 oil so since its 5 when cold wont it flow better then if i were to warm it up since it will be a 30?

next i want to add lucas oil stabilizer or STp oil treatment in my other car since it is making noise. probably worn bearings. But i just read how bad lucas oil stabilizer is on this website. is stp oil treatment the same? Or should i just stick with a heavier weight oil without any additional addectives?

You stored your vehicle for 1 mnth and also using 5W20 and you go through all that just trying to start it up?

Gosh! That makes me look like an ultimate slacker for I have kept my fit outdoor (parked) in the midst of that damp cold wet PNW winter w/o block heating, storage precautions, battery charger, fogging oil, AssTeePee, fuel/gas stabiliser, etc. for 6 wks until I started it up 2 nites ago. Still runs like a top!

First,I agree, you went a little overboard on the storage. I have a vehicle that hasn't been run for 6 weeks. All I did was back it in the garage and turned off the key.

Second, do a little reading around on this board. All oil thins as it warms. So, by warming your oil it will flow better.

man i can never get a straight answer. Thats why i came here.. so help me out. hehe
but i think its when i warm it up its going to get thinner.
so I will heat it up for a good 15 minutes with a hair drier. : )

I know most of you tell me just start it but like i said again i got like 3cm or more of fogging oil in the cylinders.

Ps. is it normal for coolant level to go down during the winter?
Both on my car that i stored and on my Bike the coolant went down. ?
hope its not a bad head gasket. But its a brand new car. So i dunno.

and the car that is making the noise is a 95 honda accord with 116k miles. Um im running 5-30 now because its freezing outside. and i plan do go either 20-50 or 15-40 during spring

A Honda with 116k miles shouldnt need anything but regular oil and some fuel injector cleaner in the tank every once in a while. When you get another 100k on the motor you can worry about the additives (which you dont need).

I'm trying to think of a way for him to clear the fogging oil out before he starts the engine up; any of you guys have any suggestions on that?

i got this pump at wallmart for 4 bucks. you squeeze it and it should pull the oil out. I tried doing that for the oil. i put it down the dip stick hole but the oil was too thick. ANd then i had trouble taking it out so i wont be trying that again.

There's the messy way. Pull the plugs and hit the starter.

That's what I was thinking, but won't it wash the cylinders down with fuel?

not it u pull the fuze for fuel pump i believe. but yah that is very messy and my engine will be mad dirty. hehe ill stick with my method. im sure it will be ok if there will be minimal oil left as it will burn off when the car is started.
