A Constitution for Teenage Happiness

While homeschooled, her life, and academic pursuits, reflect mine in many ways. Ancient languages. Poetry. Books. All facets of my young life and my six years in prep school. An interesting read. My children, especially my youngest daughter, are much like her.

I've stated here before that I'm a product of a public school education. Doesn't matter how one develops good values, just that one does.

btw I am happy to see that my public school is still ranked in the 500's, and consistent. Been around that as long as I've been checking. My school gave me good values and introduced me to the classics, debate, athletics, and even film. And we sent 7 kids to a very prestigious college.

I'm proud to report after having just paid my school taxes on Tuesday (due 8/31), the town that I live in now, moved into the 600's. They were over 1,000 ten years ago. My wife works for our school district and they provide my healthcare, so I'm happy that they are making strides. A kid who graduated from my son's elementary and going into college, you guessed it. Is going to the college that the 7 kids above went to. I can only hope they teach kids the above as well.

The author mentioned conduct--imho that matters, it isn't how much one can get away with that matters, but what one does, for themselves first, and then for others.

Some of that would not have worked for me, a serious motorhead, my direction was always mechanical/engineering and not social. That is why I ended up here on BITOG, social network for technical types.

Here I am, fixing the front axle of my homemade, 2HP go-cart, at 8 years old. I let a friend drive it and he hit the curb. I got it fixed in short order, back together and running in no time. Took a little "thinking" on how to straighten the steel rod and get it installed again before dad came home.

Asking me to study ancient languages or give a presentation of poems from the WW-I era would not have resulted in success. Pointing one in the proper direction is essential. In the end, as I touch on retirement, I achieved all I could, and it's been wonderful.

I like your newest go-kart…

Partially agree with 1, don't care for 2, strongly agree with the rest.

Nice, I mean they usually don't cruise at FL510 all the time right? Just for a certification I assume.
