A British Soldier and an American Soldier drink ounce per ounce

Yes, correct, and a US pint is 1/8 of a US gallon. It’s 16 ( US) ounces, 1/8 of a 128 US ounce gallon. A US ounce is 4% larger than a British ounce so the 20 ounce British pint is .96 x 20 = 19.2 US ounces.

19.2-16= 3.2 ounces. The glass on the left has 3.2 ounces more. 3.2/16 = .2. The British pint is 20% larger than a US pint, just as a British gallon ( Imperial gallon) is 20% larger that a US gallon. The 3.2 extra ounces are inside the larger bulge of the glass on the left. It’s hard to notice but the larger bulge is there. Sound right?
Sounds right. My eyes are old. Or maybe I am just getting fat and my brain suppresses the difference in bulges.

Here are more distorted photos. I thought the board would help but the glasses are still distorted. The first photo shows a US sized pint and a measuring cup with 16 ounces. Then the cup is emptied in the pint container and the level looks “correct”, with room for suds.

The next shot is a British pint, and a cup containing 16 US ounces. See how low the level is when the 16 ounces are poured into a British pint glass. It looks too low.

The next shot is the same British pint but now an additional 3.2 ounces are in the measuring cup. It represents the proper British pint which is 19.2 US ounces which is 20 British ounces. When added to the British pint the level is at the proper height for a British pint with room for suds.

Finally, here are the two empty glasses together with the American pint dropped inside a British pint. Definitely the British pint is larger. I’m getting thirsty. :D
