Here is a question that has been bugging me for a while.

Most of the Dexron III oils are rated Dexron III/Mercon

Most of the Ford Mercon V oils are rated Mercon V/Dexron III.

Since the Mercon V oil is a "better" oil than the Mercon would the Mercon V make a better Dexron III compared to the standard Dexron III/Mercon stuff???

If you want to spend the money, go with Allison/Castrol Transynd or Mobil 1 Dex III.
Also Ford uses Mercon SP in their toughest automatic application (the TorqueShift behind the PowerStroke diesel) which is another synthetic fluid.

Terry has told me that Schaeffer's 204S is the best commercially available Dexron III.

He and an associate have a blend that is even better, but if ya' got to ask, 'ya can't afford it...

SChaeffers new 204s is a blend that meets anad exceeds the new specs nad superior to the minersl 204s that is being phased out.

Schaeffers is a little expensive for those of us with a 8+ quart capacity, how do the lower priced dinos rate?

Stock up with a >= $250 order from Bob WInters and include in that order a 5-Gal. pail. It's cheaper that way.

My understanding is that it will be a Dex III(H) addpack with Group II AND III paraffininc base oils.

Uh, don't think I need that much. My Dex III car is not a daily driver. It would take a while to use that at
