It might be time for a new starter. Definitely put that near the top of the list of things to check.

Nothing happens when you turn the key after the motor is hot? Could also be something in the starting circuit like the ignition switch, clutch switch or gear selector switch.

What happens when you turn the key exactly ? I had the same issue with my Maxima ( 97 gle ) and turned out to be a bad crank position sensor.

That what it sounds like to me.

CPS or starter, there is not much else it could be.

On a Saturn, the CPS is an incredibly common failure point.

Not sure about the Maxima, never had to replace one on a Nissan in my family.

My maxima would start every morning without fail. And then leave me stranded in the middle of my territory at work between businesses. Would fire right up after some time , no regular interval , sometimes 5 mins , once it took upto an hour. Had no CEL , just a dormant code. Replaced it with a part from AZ and never had the same issue ever again.

A bad crank sensor may not let it start, but it would still crank.

Resistance goes up when hot - starter, wiring, or relay. Maybe even the relay center wiring [sometimes printed circuit].

What Part From autozone a Crank Position Sensor?

already printed a wiring schematic from the fsm tracing as we speak

Sometimes when a starter is well worn the bearings expand with heat and allow the armature to drag on or get stuck on the field winding. When the starter cools down the bearings contract and lift the armature up away from the winding so it can spin freely. Like Yonyon said, might be time for a new starter. This problem used to happen often with either the 460 or the 454, I don't remember which, due to the exhaust manifold being too close to the starter.

This just happened on my Volvo, and a Coolant Temperature Sensor turned out to be 100% what the problem was.

Second suspect would have been Crank Position Sensor
Third: Cam Position Sensor
Fourth: Spark, or fuel.

Yep, the first thing I would do is throw it up on some stands and run it it till its hot. Then shut it off and if it won't crank check for power at the started when trying to crank it. If you have power, bam, starter. Really very simple.

If that's not it just keep working your way back from the starter to the ign switch. The cause is between those 2 parts somewhere.

Sounds like a fuel relay. I had the exact same thing happen to me in 2 different cars and both had fried fuel relays. When they get hot they would short out.

And remember that time you bought a thingy and you gave the clerk a dollar too much, but it was okay because she caught it and gave you your dollar back? It was the exact same thing as when your neighbor was walking his dog and tripped over a turtle and scraped himself. Totally.

I live in NJ. My sense of humor is just barely good enough to pass the annual test. Really, it's just been good luck so far because I've gotten the "easy" instructors almost every time. We have to take a test every year and anyone who fails the test gets shipped to Florida at their own expense and has to pay a fine of not less than $500 but not to exceed of $3300.
