Just spoke to somebody in South Africa who drove 93750 miles (150 000km) on one oilchange!!! The total milage on the vehicle is about 225 000km now.
She did do top ups at the gas stations when the level was low but that's it.

I've seen 80k miles on an X3, 65k on an Accent, 64k on a Camaro, and 42k on a Jeep all with factory fill plus top offs. Of those, the BMW and the Hyundai were irreparably damaged but still running. "Running" doesn't mean unharmed.

It's more desirable to have an engine that doesn't burn any oil. Burning oil can shorten emission system life.

I know a guy who ran 82k miles on a Focus using Amsoil and only topped off. Car still ran good at that time. It got totaled shortly after so I'll never know if/how much damage was done internally.

My sister thought oil changes were recommended, not mandatory.

Engine seized completely after finally sludging to a point of no oil flow.

Would be nice to know the total number of QTs added during that time period.

I once had a Sears riding lawn mower for the dog pen that got one cutting per fill. Never had to drain the oil as it leaked out on its own.

Had a neighbor that drove her Corolla a lot and never did a oil change in the few years she was a neighbor. The thing was beat and she drove it hard. Just add oil when needed she says. It looked bad, ran bad, but she drove it hard day in and day out.
I don't know how many miles she had on it, but she sure was always in & out of the neighborhood a lot. It smoked so she must have been adding oil on a fairly regular basis. It sure was a beat-up piece of junk. Screaming belts, ear piercing brakes, dented rusty body, cracked glass, leaky exhaust, bad tires. Guess she wasn't embarrassed when we teased her about it. Total abuse and it shouldn't have been on the road, but she didn't care. & big wet oil on her driveway.

Did it have a "save the earth" bumper sticker on it?

^ lol... talk about stickers lol - it did have several stickers - most worn and not legible and I notice a couple holding a tail light assembly from falling out... at least that is what it looked like to me.
I once saw her untie (string) and opened the trunk and under the lid was a few stickers too. A pile of dirty clothes and junk in the trunk as well in the car itself. Just nasty stuff.
Guess the coat hanger wire worked for an antenna was probably the best working thing on that car.

Did she ever change the filter?
