Stinger branded sound dampening material http://stingerelectronics.com/productDetails.aspx?ProductId=541&CategoryID=12 applied to the Miata yesterday. I went with Stinger over the competition because of the cost savings. 40% less expensive than Dynamat on Amazon for 36 sq ft of material. It also claims to be "beffier" than the competion: "Our product is superior in weight, thickness of material and aluminum layer. Overall better bonding and damping performance."
In all I would say I added ~4.7 panels of the nine panel box to the Miata, at about 3lbs per panel, roughly 14.1 lbs to the weight of the car. The material was applied to the trunk floor, to the metal panel behind the pass and driver seats, beneath the two seats, and to the foot wells. I made sure to measure the pieces to minimize any weight differential between the two sides, not that it would make a huge difference.
The doors were more time consuming than the other, relatively flat, areas. I applied to both the inner and outer skin, and behind and to the speaker mount:

Stinger has made a huge difference in the modest sound system. Although I replaced the stock speakers with Alpine SPS-610 Type-S, 6 1/2", 230W, 2 Way Speakers, I still use the factory head unit. Before the Stinger the sound was muddy and I could barely hear it with top down at highway speeds. Now it is completely changed. I get more sound at a lower output, the bass is heavier and tight, and I can hear the music at road speed. As a bonus, the car feels more, "solid", although it now drives like a Grand Marquis...just kidding.
