Looking at buying a 93 Cherokee with 219K (all highway).

It's a 2nd owner vehicle, guy really knows his stuff, drove great, steering and suspension are really tight as he never took it off roading, just commuting to work 100 miles a day.
He says it has the something or other non Peugeot 5 speed manual transmission.

He indicates religious oil changes, and the dipstick and under the valve cover were spotless. He had a stash of Valvoline 10w30 in the garage

He did say he hasn't done any fluid changes of diffs, trans, or t-case.

For the Jeep experts, what are the issues with this year Cherokee? I know some have had head gasket issues and some t-cases are better than others etc. Are drains of t-case, trans, and diffs fairly easy?

He's asking $2,900, I said I'm gonna look into it and I'll give him $2,000 cash, he said if I come back with $2,000 cash it's mine!

It's pretty much MINT! Only negatives are the clear coat is peeling a bit on the hood, and the tires are highway all season and are at the wear bars.....BFG A/T 235/75-15s will be on it the day I buy it if I do.

Which tranfer case does it have? Does it have the full-time option? All the fluid changes are easy. (Assuming your trans has a drain plug. Someyou have to pull the pan.)

I don't know any issues with that year. Keep in mind it's 15 years old though. Some stuff will pop up here and there.

Change out ALL fluids ASAP and you should be good to go for that price.93 was the first year for that model change so there were a few electronic issues and I hope it doesn't have ABS.My hunting partner had a 93 Grand it it took a few parts ie. fuel pump, altenater, water pump, starter, rad but it also had near 400,000 kilometers on it when it was rear-ended and totaled or he would still be driving it to-day.The 4.0L engine and AW-4 transmission along with the NV242 T case never missed a beat!

It's got full time 4wd so I guess it has the NV242. Do the diffs have drain plugs, along with the t-case and trans? It does have abs.....craap!
