Hi Patman: I first changed the oil @ 500 mi and @ every 2,500 mi increments on the odometer. Even though I'm just getting the oil analyzed @ 10,000 mi that gives me 2,500 or less per oil change. I can't believe that I would do any damage in those mileage increments. As I said the analysis will tell. By the way, it's nice to see metroplex's unwavering opinion against the 5W-20 oils!

Metroplex, name one major difference between 2001 and 2002 4.6L truck engines.

Don't worry, when more 5w20 results come in, we'll convince Metroplex that this oil doesn't spell death for the internal combustion engine!

Patman, with all due respect, why do you extol the virtues of 5W-20? You quite often recommend 10W-30 over 5W-30. BTW, this is not a critisism, just curious.

I'm speaking for myself, but Patman jump in any time. I've lived through many car and oil ages. My first vehicle was a 1958 Old's with a massive V-8. I then went to a 1961 Chevy, a 1966 Ford, a 1969 Ford, a 1970 383 Plymouth Fury 3,(great car!)a 1968 Plymouth, 1972 VW Beetle, 1973 Mustang, 1974 Mustang(mistake!) VW RABBITS, 1975, 1977, 1985 (gas crunch), 1980 Ford truck and various other newer vehicles, including my 2002 F-150. I guess what I'm trying to say is that as time goes on oil requirements DO change and we shouldn't be afraid to change with the times. Heck, if I was afraid to change I'd still be using SA, or the appropriate grade single weight oil that the 1958 Old's required. I may be old, but I still adopt to the current times.
