This is my neighbors 90lb. English Bulldog. His name is Rambo and he's 6.5 years old.

Honestly, sad to see. Sad seeing obese dogs, it isn't their fault but the fault of their owners. They don't live as long and don't walk well. Especially being an English bulldog they can barely breathe and walk anyways.

Gotta agree with Nick. He'd be much happier if he weren't 35-40 lbs overweight.

I agree. Bulldogs have one of the shortest lifespans of most breeds, 8-10 yrs. (And that's pushing it). Allowing one to become obese is only going to shorten his life further. Obesity is no better for dogs than it is for people. It's actually worse in dogs because it can accelerate hip dysplasia. Which, because of the expensive surgical cost to correct, is pretty much a death sentence for most dogs.
Forget that, Rambo needs some regular walks around the neighborhood. I'm sure his master does too.

His momma took him to the vet 6 weeks ago. He weighed 94 lbs. The Dr. changed his dog food and the quantity she was giving him. He has lost 4 lbs. She brought him in because his right rear leg was making a noise. The vet said that if he lost 30 lbs he might not need an operation.
And whomever said his owner was the same as him, obese, she's 4' 10" tall and weighs 90 lbs.

as noted obesity in dogs can shorten their life + wellbeing, not being known for activity adds to the issue making proper diet even more important!! a high school friend had one + they often sat on the porch, he was diabetic + overweight + passed way too soon + his dog i never seen afterward. humans can control their health as well as their pets adding QUALITY years of living! happy + healthy holiday to all + DON'T OVEREAT or eat too often!!!
If you like Bulldogs, a Pug has the same look, appeal, and gentle temperament. They are smaller. But they have a much longer life expectancy. They can live up to 14 years, if they're well cared for.
I've had dogs most of my life and the Pug we had was the "dog of a lifetime" the whole family was absolutely flipped over that dog. We want to get another.

Rambo and his owner have lived in my complex since 2018. I met them the very first day they moved in. I sometimes babysit Rambo when his momma has to go places.
He's very smart. And knows a few tricks. And friendly, he loves attention!
Bulldogs are a very people person dog.
He gets A LOT more exercise since going to the Dr. a few weeks ago.
Adopted a scotch collie 9 year old 40-45 lbs over weight. Rinsed and drained can green beans and can pumpkin 1.5 oz each to take place of some of the kibbel. Treats were for little dogs or fruit. With a short walk once a day. In a year lost 25-30lbs looked good. This dog stunk because he couldn't clean himself. Had layer of fat that extended over tail his that he couldn't raise it more that parallel with the ground.
