The owner of this YT video is a friend of mine and golden-age Honda/Acura nerd too. He has a ‘94 Legend with 600K+ miles and interviewed the owner of this Accord Coupe 6MT. The original engine went at 900k miles and the owner remarked he did 15k mile OCIs since he was doing very long distance medical courier deliveries weekly.

The part I got a chuckle out of was a commentator asking if the car could have made it to 1 million miles doing 3-5k OCIs. The owner didn’t state what brand/grade he used but it doesn’t appear to be anything exotic.

Obviously the engine would've gone 1.5 million miles on a 1,500 oci. <sarc>

Yep, highway miles are SUPER easy on the car and on the oil. So if you drive all highway, sure you can do this long OCI. For pretty much everyone else, change it every 5K.

I always wonder about clickbait headlines from Youtube videos. Does it get more views if you exaggerate the OCI? Hmmmmm

Like all forms of media the more eyeballs on the story the more the publisher can earn. Clickbait titles are part of the landscape.

All I know from this and from the 1 million miles in 5 years Elantra story a few years ago is that medical courier delivery seems to be a seriously messed up concept if it requires 500+ miles daily, 365 days an year. This profession keeps popping up in high mileage vehicle stories

None of the MT models have VCM either...
As mentioned, no VCM on any 7th gen Accord. I own same generation Accord with 5 speed automatic.

As also noted, lots of long-distance road miles the easiest on oil. Given that with synthetic oil, 15k mi. ocis not that surprising imo. Me I'm at ~126k miles and average ~5.5k miles one year using synthetic oil on promo or rebate. Different driving profile. I'll say his headlights look much better than mine. lol Need to refinish mine.

I still maintain that a non-vcm J-Series engine is one of the best engines ever made. They're not bleeding edge technology for the time and they have a few minor faults, but they will run forever if taken care of.

A year or so ago another "Bob" member reported on his 200x Honda Accord V6 6MT 2Dr. He had just put 1,000,000 miles on it, though it had been running on only 5 cylinders for the last 40,000 miles because of a burned valve. When he did a tear down he found that the valve in question (an exhaust valve of course) was too tight.

I have a 2007 Honda Accord V6 6MT (the rare 4Door) with only 190,000 km. Mine is nearly rust free and I intend to keep it a very long time.

Our daughter wants to teach her kids to drive a manual transmission with this car. I'll consider it when they know how to drive. And I've already brought up the question of who replaces the clutch.

This is that car.

The manual was indeed a rare bird on the Accord sedan. IT was a TL 6MT at 75% of the price.

One of my friends had a TL 6MT. It was the prettier car. The wheels are identical (except for the plastic centers) between the TL 6MT and the Accord V6 6MT 4Dr.

I really should have bought a TL too because my boss at the time also owned an Acura dealership. But as they say, timing is everything. I wasn't in the market for a new car right then.

My friend who used to be in the used car business says the '06 and '07 Accord V6 6MT 4Dr is the "Holy Grail" of Honda cars. They are a good car. And pretty rare. I've never seen another one in the wild. They can be recognized by the dual exhausts, TL style wheels, and the red paint on the V6 badge on the back end. The automatics have black paint on the otherwise identical V6 badge, and different wheels.
