737 for trans Atlantic Flights

Hopefully! First time in a plane for our 3 and 5 year old and they’re super excited. They keep asking if we can leave today lol
Give them something to chew or suck on for their ears. I was on a flight with an asian woman with a baby. Her husband was sitting a distance away. They didn't speak any English. Baby was screaming its lungs out. Women around her were trying to tell her to give it a bottle or pacifier. She thought they were bitching at her because of the noise. Her husband came back and she gave him the baby and took his seat. It wasn't funny at the time but later thinking abut those people trying to communicate with her about it was.

We’ll have gum/mints for them plus whatever snacks on SW

The 737-700 and 800 are both pretty loud. The Max is comparatively whisper quiet, the engines are an impressive feat of engineering.

I will be on a Max in a few weeks for the first time.

I agree about the 800 being loud inside.

Luckily I didn’t have to take single aisl to Europe, yet.
But, to Hawaii, I will take Southwest 737 Max8 or 757 over United 777-200 ANY DAY!

Yeah but it’s got two aisles for the livestock to move🙂
I wouldn’t be surprised if they install hand holders so people can stand and hold onto something. There is always a bit more space.
I have a friend from Europe who comes to the Springs several times a year, and never been to Hawaii. So, I told him that there is a direct flight from Denver to almost all islands. He came back and said: “you know, flight there and back, I thought you were my friend “

No love for the 777? Serious question - why the dislike? Someone mentioned them being underpowered. Back in my working days I flew on 777s several times. Yes, I was flying either First or Business Class (usually on American), but I always liked the 777.

I never said I don’t like any aircraft, including the B737 BTW.

They are all fine in my books and I might end up on the B777 soon.

My point is it’s not the aircraft ( o.k bigger planes have bigger washrooms but I am 6 ft 220 and have no issues with washrooms even on NB ) ) , it’s the seating configuration that counts.

Who said the B777 was underpowered on BITOG? First time I have heard that one. Was that someone me?

I even enjoyed flying the CRJ-100 when I used to fly to EWR, ORD, IAD and DCA.

Now, there are a few airports I hate and would avoid.

Edit: my flying ( leisure destinations ) will be replaced by the B737 Max within two years. I have a free coarse right ( forced reduction ) and who knows, I might even use it and try the B737 and see how I like it for fun for year then switch to another aircraft.

Thanks. I did a quick scan about it being underpowered - didn't see it. My imagination or I misunderstood something.

I've been on many, many CRJs. I've always thought they had nice lines and proportions. The Delta CRJs I used to fly regularly in the early '00s always looked sexy to me.

The B777 doesn’t have great high altitude cruise performance because of its wing. It has lots of power.

Everyone loves the B777 at my airline but they hate the fact they can’t get much higher than 30,000 when heavy is what they say.

The A321 I fly is “ under powered” , it’s a dog.

B777 climbs well all the way to the max cruise altitude for its weight. A321 DOESN’T climb well up to its max cruise ceiling.

Even when people were bashing Boeing and the 737 Max, I never got involved in that discussion because I find them annoying.

I have enjoyed every aircraft I have flown.

B787 …..coming back from the Caribbean and watching another company flight fly faster/higher than us directly above sure makes me think about the B787 also.

I believe @Astro14 has called the 757 “the sports car of commercial aircraft” or something similar. They sound like lots of fun!

Someone asked Juan Browne his favorite airliner to fly, and he unequivocally said the 757. Called it the “last of the muscle jets” with power to spare. Said something about its suitability for high altitude airports in Latin America.

The first time I flew the 757 SIM, I rotated and pulled the nose up to what I thought was pretty steep after spending so much time in small airplanes. I wasn't following the flight director, instead looking outside. Mr. @Astro14 said, you gotta pull the nose up. I thought it was up! I pulled it right up to the flight director bars which if I remember correctly, was almost 18 degrees. By the time I pulled the nose up, the IAS was > 300 kts. You can't get a 172 nose up 18 degrees, because you'll stall before that. The 757 was climbing at > 6,000 fpm. We were at or near max gross. The 757 and 767 are most impressive.
