7.3 PSD 2002 Ford Excursion 4x4....202k...which oil?

That is a long time 22 years. if my 2002 F350 had not have rusted out repeatedly, I would probably still have it. That truck and the 7.3 along with the 4r100 transmission were trouble free. When I got rid of it in 2014, it had 131,000 miles on it. It didn't burn any oil. I did have a small gasket leak at the Turbo Pedestal and the O-Ring fix took care of that. I never ran the 5w40 or the 10w30 diesel oils, but would have defiantly used the Motor Craft Power Stroke Diesel Oil 10w30 during the anticipated cold months.

Just curious, what was the issue with your 7.3 when running the 5w40 diesel oil and what brand of 5w40 diesel oil were you using?

Although my 2011 Ram 3500 has the 6.7 Cummins, it does well with the Rotella T6 5w40.

Thanks

Tried using mobil delvac 5-40 it started having longer cranking times to start after a couple thousand miles, sent a sample to blackstone it sheared down quite a bit. Changed it to schaeffers after that and it started to start quicker again.

Interesting. Thanks.

I owned an 02 7.3 for 22 years just sold it for about what I paid for it in 02 only had 92,000 miles when I sold it this year.
Everyone might think iam crazy but I tried a bunch of different oils in it over the years started with dino 15-40s tried 5-40s it didn't like that.
Went to schaeffers 7000 15-40 it did good on that good test results.
Then decided to try the triax 15-40 wow what a difference started real easy in the cold, was quieter it really loved that oil test results came back excellent, didn't burn a drop.
I know everyone talks crap about triax but it really made a difference.
Wow that Triax must really be something.
