6qts PYB + 1 can SeaFoam = Blk OCI !!!

Oh my God, you Pennzoil conventional freaks aren't telling stories after all.

I put in 6qts of Pennzoil conventional, ran it for 5,000 miles, put in a can of Seafoam, drove it for 591 miles, took it to my cousins shop, and watched the magic happen. It came out deep deep brown - almost black. I think my OCD regarding OCI's is calmed now.

I threw in 6 straight qts of Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck, on a Mobil 1 filter. I plan to run it for 5,000 miles, then put a can of Seafoam in it for 500 miles and drain it. I plan on dropping 6 qts of Mobil 1 0w40 in it for the winter in Jersey.

What say you?

Pennzoil oils clean well by themselves. No real need to add anything else.

Too much Seafoam added. While you "can" run a whole can as you did and not hurt anything, and I have at times in certain situations, the correct amount is 1/2 ounce of Seafoam per quart of oil in your engine. So for a 6qt sump you only add 3 ounces of Seafoam to the crankcase. That is just under 1/4 can( 16 ounces ). You have over treated your oil with the Seafoam by adding an entire can.

Another time try doing it correctly( not meant nasty like it sounds ). Start by cleaning your combustion chamber via a vacuum source( brake Booster or PCV line )using 1/4 can, add 1/4 can to the crankcase, then dump the rest into your gas tank. That would be the recommended use of one 16 ounce can according to the mfg's directions on the can itself.

Seafoam is great stuff and I use it myself all the time. I see a lot of people use it incorrectly though. Usually it is using too much as you did. More is not always better. Just follow the mfg's instructions on how to use it properly for best results.

Heh, heh - nasty. Hey thanks Hemi, I definately look forward to doing itvthe right way next time around, I am surprised, however, at the mfg.'s recomendation of only a 1/4 can for the brake booster and only a teensy beensi 1/4 can in the sump though.

Seems conservative.

You shouldn't neglect your engine to the point where you need actually CLEANING, via a whole can of SeaFoam.

With proper OCIs, all you might ever need is a small maintenance dose in the oil, as per Seafoam's instructions, and the rest is used to clean the fuel system. One can does it all. Seems smart.

Seems that when someone feels the need to clean out their dirty engine, most bitogers always say to run Pennzoil conventional for a shotened oci. seems like good advice,

I'm guessing the Sea Foam at the end in that dosage really hit some varnish at least?
